My Safe Haven

Do you ever walk into your home and take the time to realize how it makes you feel?
I do.
My house is my own little corner of the world and has become my home.
It hasn't always felt that way - at first just the house I fell in love with, the house I hoped would be mine, and the house that consumed my thoughts to decorate and fill.
Then it happened - over a year and a half of memories, life changes, and hours of inhabitance it became home.
It's the one place that fills that need inside to belong.
I always loved the feeling at my parents house - especially during my nomadic years of being a college student. The feeling of comfort that it was the place I had known my whole life as a safe haven and where I belonged.
Now I have a place like that of my own.
It's filled with everything that makes me, me:
- The Boy who makes me feel I have found everything I could have ever wanted in life
- the feeling of peace and belonging
- comfort in knowing I get to unwind, create, enjoy, relax, stress, cry, celebrate and everything else in my own way
- ownership of the things I did to get here as well as the things I get to do to make it "mine" (and now ours)
all within these four walls.

I wouldn't change a thing about my cozy, little safe haven.

Dorothy nailed it on the head when she said, "there is no place like home." Amen, sister.
