I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.
This morning I made it a point to get up and spend some time with Cam. With his early work schedule, I usually barely even stir when he leaves (which is either 5:25 or 6:25) but I thought with the time change on my side and us getting to bed early, 6:00 didn’t seem too bad. It ended up being the perfect start to get my day off on the right foot. It has my mind in a positive place that I can’t help but to notice my blessings today.

The news has been inundated with stories of the Elizabeth Smart trial and the heart-wrenching home invasion trial in Connecticut. Part of the jury was on the Today show from the Conn Trial and I’ll admit I shed a few tears. Partly for the horrible, tragic nature of the case but even more so of their human spirit and the goodness of these strangers to the victims. I can’t imagine the horrible things these people lived through and I have so much respect for the courage of Elizabeth Smart and Dr. Petit. I feel grateful for several things due to these stories: my own safety and good fortune, the human spirit that people are good and rally around each other, as well as our Justice System and our founding fathers that paved the way for justice.

And now, as I get through the work day, I get to look forward to curling up by the fire place and having a movie date with my Love.
So yes, I think Everything’s going my way.

Yay! I'm so glad you are back to blogging. It's so nice to take some time to think about all the things we are grateful for! Good for you for focusing on the positive.
Ready for a long comment? I have lots to say...
My good friend Emiley is a crime reporter for the Deseret News and did all the transcribing for Elizabeth Smart's testifying. We just had a lengthy convo about what tremendous faith and support Elizabeth has - she is doing so well in the face of all she went through. On a much smaller level, that's what this week has been like for me - a "beautiful morning" on a stormy day. I went to my car Monday night to find my car window smashed and my purse (wallet, laptop, camera, etc...) taken. Yeah. Bring on the tears and stress. But there have been some tremendous tender mercies in the midst of everything and I cannot deny that I am blessed. It is possible to be happy in the midst of trial.
Thank you for this beautiful post/reminder.
