While driving home from the Clark’s on Sunday we hit The Pothole from Hell… literally. It not only jarred the car, but us as well. The car drove fine for a little ways until we realized there was probably more damage than we had thought. The dreadful sound and pulling of a flat tire pretty much confirmed our suspicions.
We pulled off to the side of the freeway (yes, freeway) and checked it out. Sure enough, this is what we were dealing with…
Mind you this was about 8:00 at night and these days it is dark, there were no lights on the freeway, and we were next to a dark field - basically zero light. We also had cars speeding past us, no previous experience changing a tire, and Sunday dress to impede our situation.
Now, I know this is probably not all that big of a deal and people change their tires every day on the side of the freeway. But when Cam’s mom offered to call AAA I jumped on it. I refused to let Cam stand on the side of a dark freeway and change a tire (something neither one of us had done). His sweet mom came to our rescue, called AAA, and came to check on us and work things out with AAA.
Cam was dying that I wouldn’t let him change the tire and thought his manliness was in question that he couldn’t just do it himself. I just didn’t see the reason to not call AAA and avoid any danger and make sure everything was done properly. So, I put my foot down - I may be a little paranoid, but I would like to avoid any kind of dangerous situations that Cam could be in. Since getting married, my biggest fear is that something will happen to him, and I am just not willing to risk that.
So an hour later, we were fully rescued, on our way home, everyone safe, and Cam still being the ever manly-man that I love.

Thank goodness for AAA. We have a blow out on the trailer on the way home from St. George. Scared the crap out of me having Trent change the tire. And it was on the freeway side. Not fun. Tell Cameron it is better to be safe than manly. Not that I think he isn't manly....
i can't even count the number of flat tires i have changed... you should have called me.
See, this is why you need to blog. So I know what's going on in your life and so I have pictures as evidence of it all. And have I mentioned lately that I love your blog layout? Turned out darling!
Glad all was ok with the tire. Hooray for Cam's mom and AAA.
Glad you put your foot down, Jill, and that you arrived home safe and sound.
