Dinner Guests and Treasure Chests

Tonight was a night I got to exercise some of my New Year's resolutions and test out some new recipes. I had dinner guests coming over and wanted to treat them to something special.

The main course was a tried and tested favorite: Bacon Carbonara Tortellini (delish and oh so easy)
To add something new, I tested out Garlic Knots to go along with the pasta dish - no picture, but I think they turned out pretty well
Dessert was to be my crowning moment - at least for myself. Ever heard of "elephant ears" or palmiers? Well they have long been one of my favorite pastries and they are a treat whenever I find them. So when I stumbled upon a recipe to make them, I thought it was the perfect opportunity. I tested some out last night, but perfected them this evening. Even I was impressed with how they turned out - I can be a tough critic on my efforts.

Little did I know that I was not the only one to be doing the "treating" this evening. Heidi showed up bearing the greatest gift of all time - I think I can honestly say that.
She presented to Cam and I a beautiful and well done scrapbook of our engagement thru honeymoon. It is stunning and amazing. She put so much time and effort into it and it is such a treasure. Just look at the size of that thing! This is only a sampling of the many adorable pages.
Isn't it to die for? I just want to carry it around with me and show everyone. We will treasure this forever and can't wait to look through it again and again.

I always love nights I get to spend with any of my sisters and mom. They are all my best friends and I am so grateful for each one of them.

Can we please have a dinner party every week? I'll host and do the cooking - you can all just show up.

Those elephant ears look SO yummy. And you're right, that scrapbook is an absolute treasure. I saw it when I was at her house a while back so much time and love in that thing.

And you didn't even mention who you had dinner with?

I also want to try those elephant ears! When can The Hoard come and eat? I would love to sample some of your cooking and take a look at that killer scrapbook. Heidi is the best!
