New Year, New Goals

It’s the sign of the times when everyone’s goals and resolutions start popping up on their blogs and this year I am joining the ranks. I have never been one to set New Year Resolution (and if I have, I’ve never had any intention of keeping them much past the month of January) but this year is different...

I decided to make a slew of New Year Resolutions. I know, it might not be the most effective way to make and keep goals, but I figure I might as well aim high and at least improve through my efforts.

Our New Year celebration included a “House Hunters” marathon and Cam falling asleep on the couch around 10:30 – I know very exciting. This left me some time to quietly think how I wanted to spend my next year. I grabbed a pen and paper and just went to town on the different things I want to work on this year. I wrote about 4 notebook pages of all the things I wanted to work on - two solid pages of goals (including action steps). Instead of feeling overwhelmed with these, I felt empowered and excited to strive to be a better person.

I know that I won’t accomplish all of my goals as perfectly as I would like but I know that being aware of the things I want to work on will help me.

The list includes the likes of losing weight (and if we are being honest, I probably need this one the most), increasing spirituality, finishing up home projects, organizing, budgeting, trying a new recipe every week, blog/journal more regularly, be a better wife, etc.

It’s quite the list to tackle, but I have room to grow in all of those areas so any improvement is welcome.

Side note: my California post is coming (I PROMISE)

Hooray for goals. It feels so good, right? I'm not a big goal person, but when I am working towards something it feels really good. Good luck with all your endeavors. You'll be great.
