- The phone doesn't work (which it doesn't)
- Apple's Warranty does not cover water damage of any kind - including a swirly in the toilet
- A new iphone - sans a new contract - runs you a good $600 (money I am not willing to part with)
- After weeks of agonizing decision making to even get the iphone, Cam is out one two months in!
After a weekend in rice and still no hope, we decided to head to the Apple store. We knew our options were limited and came at a heavy price, but we wanted to know at least the options we had.
We walked into the store, set up an appointment, wasted some time around The Gateway and headed back to the Apple store promptly at our appointment time.
We told our "genius" the sad situation we found ourselves in. You could tell by his reaction that our outlook was bleak. After some humming and hawing, some research on the computer he turned to us and said, "We don't cover water damage and it voids your warranty on the phone, we can file an out of warranty claim and it will be $199..." - we had known this much and knew this was probably our best option, but to our surprise he continued "... but since you have only had the phone for 2 months, I can go ahead and take care of this for you today and just replace it at no cost." - Did he just say what I thought he said? Yes, NO COST!
Cam and I sat there in disbelief and totally shocked at how well we were being taken care of. This was clearly our error and Apple really had no obligation to do anything for us - but our genius continued to tell us that Apple would rather us have a working phone that we can use - and I couldn't agree more.
We both walked out of there tonight singing praises to the often smack-talked company. Apple didn't leave us wanting and we walked out of there far happier than we could have ever hoped.
So tonight, I am a true fan of Apple. I will stand behind any company that takes care of it's customers.
and luckily for Cam, I don't have to give him crap about this anymore.

Yay for Apple! I hope I never face the day of my phone getting ruined. Oh the drama!
That is so nice! I love when you get treated well! You guys are both lucky!
You two must be living right!!!
I am so happy that things worked out !! I felt so bad for Cameron when he told me. Did he tell you that 2 days before that - Tanner dropped HIS phone in the toilet. Something is out of alignment in the universe.
You might want to consider insurance??
