Reining in the New Year

New Year's Eve has never really been a night that I go out and party or celebrate all that much. I've been ok with this thus far in my life, but this year I decided to do something a little different.

Ashlee and I hit the town and decided to grab a bite to eat. We are always up for trying new places so we stopped by "The Bayou" - a little bar downtown - for dinner. I'm not sure why the past few times we have gone out we end up at a bar, but the atmosphere was fun and the food was great.
The rest of our adventures were yet to be determined. We headed out in hopes that something would come up - but to help get the party started, Ashlee stooped to the level of drinking an energy drink (I think watching her choke that down was one of the funniest moments of the night). It was soon after this that things started to get going in the car to our first destination. Our first stop of the night was the party at the U of U Institute - talk about some crazies! Get a bunch of Mormon's together on a night like that and you have prime people watching (yes, I think I may go to Hell for judging people).

We didn't last long there and decided to try our other options. We had a tip that there was a party at the Towers at the U, we went to check it out and although it was a "singles" event, most of the people there were nearly two decades older than us. We about walked in to a full fledged meat market for old single people, eek!

Since that was a bust, we entertained ourselves in the car for a while until we found the next thing to do. I know, your jealous. Who doesn't love an impromptu photo shoot in the car?
We ended up downtown and decided that the Eve celebration was our best option.
We enjoyed the sights and the sounds and settled ourselves onto the dance floor. We had a good hour to go to the New Year and we decided to dance the night away. It was complete chaos and I don't think we had more than an inch of room to move. It was a blast!
We reined in the New Year (sans a countdown - idiots) watching fireworks amid hundreds of people. Like I said before, I haven't been one to go out and party on New Year's, but this was a pretty fun way to celebrate (it also helps that I have just about the world's best friend to share in these adventures with).
