Saturday night, Ashlee and I decided to venture west to "
Taylorsville Dayzz." We were looking for something fun to do and this seemed like just the event for us.
Fairs, carnivals, festivals, bazaars, etc. are all
activities that speak to me. Who doesn't love the food, fun, and people watching these events provide?

Food was the first order of business upon arrival. Ashlee was brave and ventured out to try some Peruvian food, while I settled for the classic corn dog and Diet coke (which was so good by the way).

The greatest, unexpected, entertainment was the "Neil Diamond Tribute." I had remembered reading about it and didn't think much of it. On the drive out there I told Ashlee about it and she didn't even really know who he was. I was floored to say the least. It then made me realize that maybe having a mom that idolized the man, made me a bit in the minority in my generation of someone who can attend his concert (or tribute) and sing a long with the songs.

This guy took his job very seriously. He pulled off the hair, the ugly wardrobe, and even the sound of the real Neil. I was surprised how much I loved it! I was singing along to the songs and loving all the memories that came with the songs. My favorite stretch was at the end with "Forever in Blue Jeans" (twice) followed by "Sweet Caroline" and then the crowning moment when he came back on stage to sing "Coming to America" while the fireworks ensued. It was a perfect moment!

Ashlee told me I should have informed her to brush up on her Neil so she could join in with me (and everyone else twice our age or older) for the sing-a-long.

After the fabulous beginning to the fireworks they continued for a good 25 minutes, with music to accompany them. It felt like the kick off to summer! I loved being outside on the grass, watching fireworks, listening to patriotic music, and wanting to just be able to capture the moment and re-live it again.

The fireworks ended, and thus began the mad dash to the exits. We sat in our car for over an hour just to move about 5 blocks. Lucky for us, we are two very fun people and we had some enjoyable people watching, even in our car.

I love when summer rolls around and there is always something to do!

I was there! I love Neil! I have gone the last 4 years in a row to see him. It is the best! I have a mom who loves him too so I would have totally sang along with you. :)
I'm so sorry I missed the Neil impersonator. Boo. I would've loved.
Ok, seriously, how beautiful are you? You look stunning in every single pic! Honestly, photogenic! Yellow is for sure your color.
I am jealous you got to enjoy fair food. I love food as well. 24th here I come!
I know from experience that you have to be brave to try Peruvian food. So, kudos to Ashlee. La Carretera is good eatin'.
Sounds like a party! I'm so glad you knew your Neil Diamond--that is very important! Your mom would be proud. The guy looks just like him!!!!
You were totally in my hood! I live with my cousin Cassidy directly across the street from the ball park. We watched fireworks right out our front door. And I may, or may not, have had a corn dog for lunch and dinner. I totally love Taylorsville Dayz!
