Mason is already one month old - it's crazy how fast time seems to be going, but yet how long ago a month seems.
My little bug is just about the cutest thing ever - I fall more in love with him every day and love seeing the slightest bit of personality starting to come through.
He is starting to get more of his own look - which I'm sure is yet to change many times. His hair has even started to take on quite the red hue - not sure where that came from, but I kind of love it. He has soulful eyes, a button nose, and the pouty-est lips you've ever seen.
He has started to focus on things a little more and with this comes his crazy cross-eye look - he looks goofy, but I can't help but smile when he does it.
Most of the time he isn't cross-eyed and is actually quite aware of what is going on around him. He loves to be awake (luckily only during the day) as I am sure he is afraid he is going to miss out on something. I never thought you could tell much with a one month old, but it's funny how he just seems to be happier when he is around people. He loves to just stare - especially at windows, he gets so pensive.
The other common Mason state seems to be confusion - he often looks like he is just trying to figure things out. He is still wondering what these hands are that seem to always be grabbing his face, but he loves when they find his mouth. He often gives this look to Cameron when Cameron is trying his hardest to get a reaction out of Mason - I think the in-your-face-let's-play approach isn't his cup of tea yet, but some day he'll like when Daddy does that.
He seems to be growing like a weed - while he still seems so small, I can feel the difference in his weight as I hold him in my arms to feed him, his length as he starts to fill out his clothes more, and in his little boy hands that seem to get chubbier every day (he literally has boy hands - I don't know exactly how to describe it, but his long long fingers just kill me).
Other milestones:
- Surprisingly, this boy has already rolled over - 3 times!
- He is constantly moving - kicking his legs and stretching his arms always
(he may be on his way to follow in his fathers footsteps - no pun intended - and be an early walker, Cam was walking by 8 months - oh boy)
- He sleeps like a champ - has from the second night home (the first night was a whole other story). I think there has only been one night that we have gotten up more than once, and other than that he usually sleeps pretty consistently from 11 - 4 or 5 (and sometimes he even treats me with sleeping until 6).
- He loves being on a schedule - we had a few off days this past week due to some feeding problems and motherhood meltdowns, and he did not like it. It's nice I'm not the only one who benefits from a schedule.
Far and away the best part of this boy turning one month old today was this little gem -
his first smile while awake.
Did your heart just melt a little? Mine did.
I still can't believe this little guy is mine - but I am so glad he is.
