So I had my birthday.
I'm now 26.
Weird, right?
I decided to try and document my day in pictures.
My day had an early start - my license was expiring so I figured it was better to get up early and get the un-fun things out of the way. So with my early morning I treated myself to my favorite breakfast: cinnamon rolls (the one's from the can - I always think they are better than homemade)
Luckily the drivers license division wasn't all that busy at 7:45 in the morning and I was in and out in about 30 minutes - which I thought was pretty good.
Since I have had so much time off lately due to baby things and my stay-cation I felt bad taking more time off, so next I was headed into work. With such a day ahead of me I had to stop for my birthday treat #2:
a McDonald's Diet Coke (they really do have the best DC, don't they?)
I made it through a whole morning of work and then I was off to meet my sisters for lunch.
We met up at Training Table - one of my all time favorite restaurants - which made it fitting to be with my all time favorite people. The party was even expanded to include my dad and Shannon (who might as well be an adopted sister - we all love her so much).
It was the best way to celebrate.
(I was also spoiled with thoughtful presents - seriously love all of these people)
When I was on my way to lunch I got a call from Cameron - he asked how my day was going, if I was headed to lunch, and if I decided to take the rest of the day off (it was a possibility from the beginning - who really wants to work their whole birthday?). I told him I wasn't going back and he said good because he had plans for my afternoon. He had scheduled an afternoon at the spa for me: first a prenatal massage followed by a pedicure. Is there anything better for a pregnant girl?
The afternoon was absolutely wonderful - and I mean won-der-ful.
I also loved getting to the front desk and hearing "your husband has already taken care of everything."
How nice/sweet/thoughtful/great is he?
I headed home and met Cam there a few minutes later. We spent the next couple hours laying on our bed chatting - one of my favorite things to do. Our bedroom is like our little haven - I feel like it is "our" space and where we get to have all of our good conversations.
I think those couple of hours just talking would have been enough to make my whole day perfect.
But, my birthday celebrations continued. Cam told me I could pick anywhere to go for dinner. Trust me, I spent most of the day looking up places, thinking of what sounded good, and by the time it was time for dinner I still wasn't sure where I wanted to go. What might seem surprising - we ended up at Rodizio. Yes, I do love meat and for some reason - that was striking my fancy.
The meal was delicious (I think I could have had them leave a whole skewer of bacon wrapped turkey for me to eat). Everything was so yummy and I ate my self stuffed (this after a big lunch too - oh man).
We walked around Trolley Square for a bit (that place is a ghost town - but I did enjoy some Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma- some day my house will be filled with their goodies) and decided to call it a night.
(look how large I am - this baby is taking over my body)
It was basically a pretty perfect birthday - more than I could have hoped for and everything that I could ever want.
But it didn't end on my birthday.
The next morning I had to stop and get gas - I got my wallet out to grab my debit card and in it's place was this little goody (that sneaky boy of mine):
Now I'll have something to look forward to spending once I have this baby and lose my baby weight.
The other present that just keeps on giving are these beautiful lilies from Shannon. Seriously - when she gave them to me two of them were in bloom - and those two were both about 7-8 inches wide (basically huge) but there were 4 more yet to bloom. Two more have and I still have two more to look forward to. They are absolutely stunning and brighten up my whole house (fresh flowers have a way of brightening anything).
I guess that was a lot to share - but it really was such a nice low-key birthday.
I got countless emails, facebook messages, and text from people who are so nice to think of me.
I am so blessed to be so loved and be surrounded by so many amazing people - birthdays just wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the people in my life.
I'm confident this is going to be a good year - it will already be off to a good start when I get to transition into motherhood and then I can only imagine what more is to come this year.
Here's to being 26!
