Projects, Projects

I've finished the first of my projects with my new little purchase - and I have to be honest, I love how they turned out. I've had the fabric sitting around, begging to be used, and now they are all made into their purpose.

First (and I think my favorite) my baby carrier cover. I am obviously doing neutral (and am loving the non-baby motif everything is taking on) and so I went with a geometric grey and white pattern (a reoccurring theme, you'll notice).

The outside:

The inside (I love this fabric - maybe a tad girly, but colorful and fun and I love it):

Second - the crib sheets. These were surprisingly easy to make, and some of the best sewing I have done. Not that they are professional or anything, but I read a few tutorials and followed some advice to do french seams and other things I haven't normally done on past projects (pressing, top stitching, etc).

I can not wait to get the crib up to see what these look like in action - aren't the pattern's fun?

Next on my "to do" list are these projects, for which fabric is ordered and on it's way - yay!

This fabulous bag (I got the same fabric and everything - I think I'm going to love it):

These adorable burp clothes (the fabric on these will clearly be different - although if I was having a girl I don't know if I could have not done this fabric - so adorable).

So to stick with "gender neutral" my burp clothes will be made with these fabrics with fluffy, soft, white flannel on the back:

I would say that my first weekend with my machine was a success - but with about 8 hours of up and down, hunching over, sitting indian style, kneeling, cutting, etc. my back took a beating. I can tell my body isn't quite what it normally is - with loose joints and more weight to carry I was all but crippled by my back pain. Poor Cameron even had to put up with my tears at 5 in the morning one day when I just couldn't find any relief.

Luckily, after a day of being plastered to a hot pad, a pillow on my chair at work, and lots of hot baths - my back is back to normal and the pain isn't here to stay for the rest of my pregnancy. Who knew this baby was taking so much of healing reserves?

I think I'll be a little smarter with my upcoming projects and I can't wait to get started on them!
