I know I have mentioned this about a million billion times before, but I have been extremely blessed by the company I get to keep - my sisters.
On about a monthly basis we have a routine: someone throws out an email with the idea for lunch and usually within a day we have our usual lunch date planned.
Friday.
11:45.
Yanni's.
Make sure Maga gets there.
Make all of our same orders/requests (so much so the employees know just how we like things).
Enjoy the wonderful (chaotic) blessing it is to have 4 best friends birthed for me, a married-in best friend, a mom and grandma who play the best friend role, and in this rare (but wonderful) occasion - have Dad join the fun (isn't my family so cute?).
Did I mention how much I love my sisters?
They are gold.
Another plus to these birthed best friends - they are always there. From school night rendezvous (loved my night with Jamie and her littles when they made the trek up for a gourmet dinner at Blimpie and shopping at Marshall's - the cute girls even brought Cameron a Valentine, pretty sure he fell in love with them right then) to planned dinner nights at my house (I love that I can get people to journey up north by offering to cook) to last minute plans with Brooke- not once but twice this past week.
Tuesday night Brooke emailed me to go to dinner - of course I jumped at the chance and we (not surprisingly) went to Chili's. Cam joined us on his way home from school, but then it was a night of girl talk as we ran to the grocery store, painted our nails, and shamelessly blog stalked people.
Thursday night was another repeat night with Brooke - although she had the discipline to go running when she got to my house, the rest of the evening was enjoyed sitting and chatting and watching some TV. It's so nice she lives so close and chose to spend her nights with me.
You might think by the way she looks we don't heat our house - I think it's just her. |
I am not a very social person, so it has worked out quite nicely that I happened to be born into friends. If it weren't for this I don't think I would have any social outlet.
And now I am growing a new best friend (mind blowing, isn't it?). In about 10 1/2 weeks (yikes!) I will have a new little one to add as my best friend. I can't wait to introduce the little bug to my current best friends (and then I get to join the Mom's club - getting called at work by your mom and sisters when they are all hanging out together is just mean).
But for now, I am content just growing this babe. I think it is much more manageable to be growing a baby than to have a baby so I'll enjoy these last few weeks with a perfectly content baby bump.
(might I add that I nearly had a heart attack when my doctor said a week ago that he will see me in 2 weeks? How did I get so far along I am already at bi-weekly appointments? scary...)

How come you're all so unreasonably beautiful? Did ALL of the good genes go to your family? Cuz seriously.
Also, I have a space heater if you need it the next time your sister comes over - cuz just looking at her makes me shiver! Sheesh, show her some love eh?
You have such a great life, Jill! So glad you are feeling so loved.
(And not to be obnoxious and crash any future parties or anything, but I live/work so close to Yanni's now. Maybe that's when I can see you and your lovely family again! I need to go to that place again...!)
