A little delayed - but I'm finally getting around to the last day of our New York Trip.
Saturday (June 4th) was our one year anniversary and the whole point of our trip. We planned it to be a wonderful day and it didn't disappoint. It was pretty much perfect.
The day started off with my favorite New York (or anywhere) activity - a street fair. Honestly, these things are the best and this one was no exception. It was on the 6th Ave and went from 42nd Street all the way to 56th street. Yep - 14 blocks of greatness. We made sure to eat well with a bacon wrapped hot dog, chicken kabob, and a gyro accompanied with lemon lime lemonade and water.
After we had thoroughly gone through ever booth (I think I made Cameron walk the whole length 3 times to make sure we didn't miss anything) we made our way to the subway. We got off at 96th street and decided to spend most of our day exploring Central Park. We both fell in love with Central Park and decided it was the perfect way to spend this beautiful day.
We started out at the Jackie Onassis Lake - we walked around and enjoyed the breathtaking views of the city. It was another one of those magical moments of just enjoying each other, being in this beautiful place and the perfect weather.
We continued to walk through the park seeing the sights - including the Strawberry Fields and the old Tavern on the Green. We walked all the way down to 59th street through the park - it was 37 blocks of park and we loved it.
We decided to head back to the hotel for a little rejuvenation (which is much needed on these packed days).
The evening was the best to come.
We had reservations, tickets to Wicked, and our last night ahead of us.
Cam got all decked out for the evening - he's so handsome. We headed out and had dinner at Azallias. The patio seating was enticing - although the view behind us makes it seem a little lame - but that is NY for you - busy streets everywhere. It was delicious and a fun way to celebrate. Next up was Wicked - I was SO excited for Cameron to see this and luckily he loved it just as much as I wanted him to. There is just something amazing about those Broadway plays.
After the play we enjoyed Times Square one more time, stopped at Cold Stone (again) and walked home for the last time. It was the perfect anniversary and the perfect ending to our trip.
The next morning we got up bright and early to take the subway and air train to the airport and wait to go home. I guess all good things must come to an end.
Celebrating our anniversary in New York was amazing - I feel so blessed to have married Cameron. He is my best friend in every sense. I could go on and on about the millions of reasons I love him - from his kindness to his love for me. As cliche as it is, he truly is my better half and makes my life complete. I never know what true happiness was until he came into my life.
Cameron, I love you the most. Thanks for our first and best year of marriage and here's to millions more.
(PS - this is my 500th post on my blog - is that crazy or what? I feel like that alone warranted it's own post, but it seems fitting that such an awesome post got to be #500.)
